KNOXVILLE, TN– Bubba Fest will have the honor of hosting outstanding actors and actresses from all genres, this August 23-25. Last week, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences increased the prestige of guests Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Chris Sullivan by nominating each of them in the field of “Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.”
Chris Sullivan plays Toby Damon in the hit NBC series “This Is Us.” Today’s nomination marks the first solo nod for Sullivan. “This Is Us” picked up a total of nine nominations this year, including Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series and two for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, as well as for “Outstanding Drama Series” which will pit it against the final season of “Game of Thrones.”
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has played Jaime Lannister for eight seasons of “Game of Thrones,” garnering his second personal nomination in the final season. The nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor sees him face off against not only fellow Bubba Fest guest Chris Sullivan, but two of his “Game of Thrones” co-stars. The HBO drama received a record 32 nominations for this year, including the fields of Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, and four nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. In closing out its run, “Game of Thrones” now holds the records for drama nominations in a single year (32), total nominations for a drama (161), and is the most Emmy-winning drama in history (47) even before this year’s ceremony.
Chris and Nikolaj will be meeting fans, signing autographs, and taking pictures all weekend at Bubba Fest, August 23-25 at the Knoxville Convention Center in Knoxville, TN. They will be joined by Chuck Norris, Lee Majors, Khary Payton, Cooper Andrews, Michael Madsen, Sean Gunn, “The King” of NASCAR Richard Petty, and many more.
